Community & Event Lead

32-40h
September 1, 2026
Groningen / Leeuwarden / Drenthe

Founders grow faster when they have the right people around them. That’s why we’re looking for someone to strengthen connections between communities in Northern Netherlands and host events that founders truly value and want to attend.

Founded in the North

Founded strengthens the startup and scale-up ecosystem in Northern Netherlands. Together with entrepreneurs, knowledge institutions, government bodies, and partners, we are building an environment where entrepreneurship can thrive. Driven by this mission, we create opportunities for founders to realize their ambitions.

As Community & Event Lead, you are at the heart of our network. Northern Netherlands is now home to hundreds of startups and a large number of active founder communities. Your mission: to make sure every founder feels at home in a community that suits them. You do this by strengthening the connections between these communities and organising events that bring them together. This is how we build one strong, connected ecosystem.

You will join the Market & Capital team and work closely with our two other Community Leads. While they mainly support founders with their development and help them navigate the ecosystem, your focus is on building and connecting the community. You are also our hands-on force when it comes to events: translating our event strategy into gatherings that founders genuinely want to attend.

What will you be doing?

Tasks and responsibilities

Community

  • You build a strong and engaged community, making sure founders in Northern Netherlands feel connected to a community that suits them;
  • You connect existing communities across the region, making it easier for founders to find each other and for knowledge, opportunities and dealflow to flow more freely;
  • You are a trusted point of contact for founders: you know what is happening, ask the right questions and connect them with the right people, communities and organisations;
  • You translate our community strategy into concrete actions that keep founders engaged, inspired and moving forward;
  • You actively pick up signals and needs from the ecosystem and make sure they reach the right colleagues and partners;
  • You work closely with our other two Community Leads and colleagues within the Market & Capital team.

Events

  • You organise the Market & Capital team’s events from A to Z: from concept and preparation to execution. Think Tech Drinks, Founder Dinners, Dealflow Thursdays and support for MXT;
  • You translate our event strategy into strong, valuable gatherings that connect founders with each other and with the wider ecosystem;
  • You are responsible for building and maintaining relationships with speakers, partners, sponsors and other stakeholders;
  • You evaluate events, map out the results and use those insights to make each next edition even better.

Who are you?

  • Connecting people comes naturally to you: you are a born networker and have a good sense of what founders and communities need;
  • You have 3 to 5 years of work experience in community building, ecosystems, event management or similar roles where connecting people and organising are key;
  • You have a background in business administration, facility management, event management or a related field;
  • You are entrepreneurial, hands-on, proactive and structured, and know how to turn strategy into action;
  • You know Northern Netherlands well and understand the unique opportunities and challenges of the regional startup ecosystem;
  • You communicate easily and professionally in both Dutch and English;
  • You are flexible and mobile: with a driving licence and car, you regularly travel across the region (Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe) to be where the founders are.

What do we offer?

You’ll have a varied role where no two days are the same and where your skills can make a direct difference for startups in Northern Netherlands.

We offer, among other things:

  • A driven team where founders always come first, with plenty of room for your own initiative and creativity;
  • A position of 32–40 hours per week;
  • A one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent position;
  • A gross monthly salary between €3,300 and €4,300 based on full-time employment;
  • A 13th-month payment, holiday allowance and 32 vacation days based on full-time employment;
  • Opportunities for personal development through training days and a training budget;
  • A vitality budget of €600 per year based on full-time employment;
  • A flexible workplace in Groningen and/or Leeuwarden, while also regularly working across the region.
